If it doesn't cut through I give it a little more length. When satisfied I put the blade in the holder and set the pressure to 90. Fine tune pressure from there.

To fix, I just reduce the amount of blade that I have sticking out. I don't touch anything with pressure or calibration because it is irrelevant.

To start with, you should set your blade depth correctly, by taking the blade holder out of the machine, and firmly cut across a piece of scrap vinyl, you will be cutting.
