A new species of flatworm has been found invading the U.S., having already spread across Florida, Georgia and North Carolina. The species, named Amaga pseudobama, was discovered in North Carolina in 2020,

An international team of scientists, including Dr. Romain Gastineau from the University of Szczecin in Poland, has identified a new species of invasive flatworm in the United States called Amaga pseudobama.

Scientists believe that it originated in South America - but they're not sure exactly which country it comes from, They say the new species looks a lot like another flatworm called Obama nungara, a species that has invaded much of Europe.
