Israel is planning a limited ground operation in Lebanon, which could begin imminently. This operation, according to an unidentified U.S. official, will be smaller in scale compared to the 2006 conflict with Hezbollah and will primarily focus on enhancing security for border communities.

After a weekend of intense talks, the American officials said they believed that Israel was planning only smaller, targeted incursions in southern Lebanon.

Hundreds of Israeli tanks are massing along the Lebanese border as fears rise of a ground invasion into the country. The Israel Defense Forces also announced that it has mobilized two reserve brigades for its operations on the Northern border.

Israel's defence minister Yoav Gallant tells troops in the north they are prepared to use forces "from the air, sea, and land".
